Wow wow wow. How can you not love the idea of a sleigh crib? I could be biased because I just bought a new cherry sleigh bed that I am still in the honeymoon phase with (you know when you buy something and it's still new and you are just obsessed with it? That's the honeymoon phase.) but you have to agree that they are just gorgeous. This crib is part of the new Chelsea Collection from Posh Tots and it's all about elegance. The crib is embellished with relief carvings and a rich silvery finish. And an added bonus: a toddler bed conversion kit is available. For a price of $1320.00, might as well get your money's worth and get a few more years use out of it!
Whatcha looking for?

The Ultimate Convertible Crib: The Mirabelle from Posh Tots
Whoever invented the convertible crib is pretty much a genius. The way they work is pretty simple: the back of the crib becomes the headboard of the bed, and the front of the crib the footboard, as soon as your child is ready. It might even ease some of the scariness of the crib to bed transition, because it's the same thing! I still get excited about this idea; I just love it. Convertible cribs can be found just about anywhere nowadays... just be prepared to pay a little bit more for them. Made of poplar with hand-carved embellishments of cupids and roses, it would be tricky to find a crib more luxurious than this. And again, it converts into a full-size bed. Fantastic. The cost? A whopping $3162.00. But just think, you are saving on the cost of the bed. Kind of. See more of this and more of the amazing matching collection at Posh Tots.

Round Cribs Are Awesome. And Expensive.
I have always had a small fascination with round cribs. I have never actually seen one in person and would be very interested to. I could see one in the nursery of some gorgeous restored Victorian house. Tucked into a turret or something. This crib is new at Posh Tots, it is the Addison Round canopy Crib. Available in the finish of your choice, this wrought iron crib is decorated throughout with graceful scrollwork. Without crib bedding, it costs $1590.00.

Modern Cribs
I feel so unsophisticated for saying this, but I do not like 95% of "modern" furniture that I come in contact with. It seems so sterile and sometimes space-age-looking. I have a particular distaste for monochromatic, hard, oddly-shaped modern couches. I have an overstuffed suede sectional. It is great for reading on, sleeping on, eating on, practically living on. I like traditional. Comfortable. Functional. So for this reason, I do not like most modern cribs. Some look like they are made of plastic and belong in institutions. I was browsing the modern collection at petitetresor.com, and ran into this crib, part of Muu's Sam Collection. This brand is made in the US by a family who has been wood working for three generations. I like that. It can be customized endlessly, including colors and finishes. And it's actually... attractive. The cherry blossoms don't hurt either; they are one of my favorite design elements. Modern carries a hefty price tag as far as this piece goes, it sells for $1175.00, which seems to be the norm amongst cribs of the like.

Mosaic Garden Sleigh Crib
As far as I have found, PoshTots reigns as the king of custom-made baby furniture. (And insanely expensive baby furniture.) They have lighting, decor, cribs, armoirs, beds, dressers, you name it, they have it. Their mosaic items have always jumped out at me because each are of course custom made, but the mosaics are made of real china that has been broken and hand-painted, so no two items are alike. Mosaics are awesome to begin with, so mosaic baby furniture? Yes please. Aside from that, this crib is a sleigh crib (more awesomeness) and made of 100% birch. Gorgeous. Pricey. $2370.00.

Think Spring: Nesting Blue Bird Crib
I know I am really reaching here. It is the day after Christmas. And I am feeling sad because of that. Therefore, I am trying to use the idea of spring and new beginnings to ease my sadness. Is it working? No, because it is not even January yet. In any case, I am currently attracted to spring-like things. This crib fits that criteria perfectly. It is hand painted, and can be done to match any bedding that you would like it to match with. The crib is then finished with an aged greenish tint, because vintage is one of those old things that will never get old. If you have $4150.00, you could add this crib to your baby's homecoming package. Visit poshtots.com for details.

A Crib Fit For A Queen or King!
Aaaand this is another one of those things that goes directly onto the "Things That Just Look Expensive" list. Ornate hand-carved designs and lattice work cover this entire crib and make it look like something that just came out of an ancient castle. Maybe it is filled with diamonds or something. The price, the price, the price... is $4462.00 at ababy.com.

Round Cribs
It's pretty much a given that round cribs - like this - are expensive. They are just awesome... but totally more a show-off piece for the parents than a privilege for the baby. Babies can sleep on the hairy chests of their fathers. Or on the floor. They don't care; they don't need a round crib. So naturally if you can afford a round crib, you probably don't care about the price of specially made crib bedding, such as this Carmella Round Crib Bedding from 2littlemonkeys.com. For $950.00, this bedding says, "I belong in a fancy crib." I couldn't help but notice that there are even matching shades on the chandelier. Oh to be wealthy.
Corsican Paris Canopy Crib
When I was little I always wished for a canopy bed. One that had the curtains that you could close to be specific. It would be like my own little fort, and the curtains would be monster-proof. There is just something magical about canopy beds. Now I have only seen a few canopy cribs in my time and this one by Corsican is a stunning example. For a stunning $3200.00, this hand-crafted-to-order beauty can be viewed at jenklairkids.com.

Hmm....
Baby cradles are an interesting conundrum. They are quite elegant and beautiful and are pretty much guaranteed to "wow" anyone who sees one in your baby's nursery. If not for the design of it, then for the fact that you don't really see them anymore. Honestly speaking, they probably aren't the safest thing for your baby once they learn to sit or pull themselves up because they could just flop right out. So people who have the big bucks are definitely the ones who buy cradles like this, the Magic Garden Iron Baby Cradle from luxurylamb.com, because after dropping the$1699.00 on this, they are just going to have to turn around and buy a crib a few month later. Maybe then it could be used as a dream bed for a little girl's dolls once they are old enough. This cradle is breathtaking, adorned with vines, berries, birds, and bunnies... like sleeping in a private springtime garden. I bet it's good to have the big bucks.

Wow.
This is just intense. I am kind of all about the Cinderella carriage baby cribs I see here and there. Maybe because I was always fascinated by that silver glittery pumpkin carriage from Disney's original Cinderella. This stunning crib has a circular mattress, and the back is a changing table. There is even a faux leather driver's seat in the front. Probably not a good idea if you have additional older children, because it is not for sitting and the max weight is 25 lbs. Might want to try extra hard to keep them from breaking this, because it costs $19,995. Visit poshtots.com for more details.

Ultimate Combo.
Aaaand in the left corner, we have the Rapunzel Chandelier. It is complete with nine arms capped with ivory silk shades, ornamented with exquisite crystal and flower detailing. Aaaand in the right corner, we have Guinevere's Crib and Bedding, custom made hand-painted solid bitch topped with a to die for canopy. Not for the faint at heart, the chandelier boasts a $965.00 price tag, which is then overshadowed by the crib and bedding, which will set you back $3,650.00 before shipping. These items and more available at poshtots.com.

Cinderella Carriage Baby Crib
Now... for the price of this crib ($5430.00, not including linens, mattress, or shipping), I think this is a little lacking. In fact, it kind of reminds me of a Charlie Brown Cinderella Carriage Crib (like a Charlie Brown tree... am I reaching too much...). It just doesn't wow me and seems kind of bare bones and simplistic. Cinderella's carriage was magical and elegant, this looks like it was made of a few twigs. Loving the idea, just not so much the design. This crib and many other high ticket monsters are available at ababy.com.

Old World Cradle from LuxuryLamb.com
Wow. Sometimes when you see so many over-the-top frilly baby things, it is great to be brought back to basics with things like the Old World Cradle. Perfect for the first few weeks of your baby's life where you may want them sleeping next to your bed in your own room. It is 25" wide by 39.5" long and stands 36" high. Not huge, but large enough to make a statement. This reminds me of something you might see in castle next to a fireplace. Cradles aren't something you see very frequently anymore and I am always one who wants to do something different and stand out. Loving this... figures, I am always a sucker for cherry finish.
