Unique Chandeliers from Posh Tots

One thing I have been randomly obsessed with since I was little? Chandeliers. I remember when I was maybe five, my dad took me to see an orchestra. Why he was the one who took me, I'm not sure, because that's not really his thing. But in any case, I remember walking in the front doors of the theater and looking up and seeing the most spectacular chandelier hanging from the ceiling. I was mesmerized. What kid doesn't like shiny objects?! That feeling of awe has stuck with me and to this day, when I see one I stop to take a longer look. Posh Tots has the best baby and kid-friendly chandeliers I have ever seen. They must look absolutely amazing in person because even in the pictures they are breathtaking. Could you even pick a favorite? Mine might have to be the crystal ship. These three range in price between $3000.00 and $5000.00, but they do have some that could fit more reasonable budgets. Check them out! Or at least fantasize about owning one. Happy Friday!

Pendant Lamps from Petit Tresor

Who doesn't love unique lighting? Okay, maybe for a lot of people lighting is an afterthought, but for me, I think it is one of the main things that set the tone for a room. My house is filled with crazy lighting: hanging chandeliers found at flea markets, Japanese lanterns, and a million different kinds of lights on strings. My electric bill is generally outrageous, but even on the gloomiest of days, I can turn on all of my lights and it just makes me happy. Pendant lamps are something you don't see in too many nurseries, probably because they are generally not cheap. They make a very bold statement and I am a huge fan. Celebrity favorite Petit Tresor has dozens of colors and styles to match just about any nursery color scheme. Ranging between $200.00 and $500.00, maybe you can find one that fits yours!

Sugar Plum Chandelier

I know I know... more stars. But I love them! I wish I could remember when the whole shabby-chic revolution started... ten years ago? More? Less? I'm not sure but whomever pioneered that one was surely a genius because it is still going strong today, and I am a definite supporter. Vintage meets modern, what's not to love? This Sugar Plum Chandelier from 2 Little Monkeys is a prime example because chandeliers date waaaay back, but you add a little purple and a few stars to give it a modern twist et voila! A genius light source. The only setback may be the price... a steep $510.00, but, you get what you pay for!

Princess Wall Sconce from Posh Tots

Crystals and roses and beads oh my!If this isn't a fancy sconce then I don't know what is. I am envisioning this above a little girl's bed or crib and put on a dimmer switch, that way if she is scared of the dark, you can dim its lights way down low and leave her with the soft glow of the crystals. Wow... that sounded really cheesy. But hey, I was scared of the dark until, well, I still kind of am scared of the dark but that is beside the point! The point is I would have loved to have this beautiful sconce to give off a little bit of light to help me feel safe. Find it for $308.00 at Posh Tots.

Unique Gift Idea: Lavender Bloom Hair Bow Holder

In an age where gift cards reign, I sometimes believe that unique gifts can be a very refreshing way to show someone that you really thought about what to get them instead of just grabbing a gift card off the rack while you are checking out at the grocery store. Just check out places like Etsy; it is a treasure trove of gift ideas hand-made by artists and artisans who make a living doing what they love. The Frog and the Princess is also a great place where you can find customized gifts, like this Lavender Bloom hair bow holder. At 40" long, it will hold up to 80 hair bows: just clip them on the ribbons that hang from the dress to create a full and frilly ball gown made of your child's hair accessories. You can even customize the colors and flowers if you can't find one you like on the website. For $45.00, give something like this a try. Buy gift cards for teenage boys and coworkers, people you don't know how to shop for. Little girls are a piece of cake.

A Fun Flowery Chandelier

I keep going back and forth about this. While I am loving the uniqueness of the green flowers, there is something about the bulb holders that really bugs me. Why are they #2 pencil yellow?? The arms themselves are lavender (it's hard to see in the picture, so why would they stick those ugly yellow candlesticks in there? This chandelier is from Posh Tots though, the magical land where everything is hand-crafted and customizable.  And for the steep price of $1506.00, I would hope you could get just about any color bulb holder you want!

Great for Nurseries: Dream Catchers.

I have always had an affinity for dream catchers. I remember when I was maybe 9 years old, my parents got me a dream catcher kit for my birthday. I read the little note inside about what they were, then looked at the picture and thought, "There is no way I can make this."                                                                                                                                                                                                               It was so elaborate, I remember perfectly: the outside was wrapped in brown leather, there were beige and blue beads, blue feathers, and strings that I tied to it with  more feathers that hung down. I made it, all by myself, and kept that thing for probably 10 years. If you are looking for a GREAT gift idea for a 8-12 year old, get them a dream catcher kit. Trust me.                                                                                                                                                         So anyway, ever since then, I have loved the things. When I saw this pretty little creation by Boutique Brands, I was instantly in love. It is everything girly with sparkles and beads and even a little fairy hanging from the bottom. Maybe instead of the traditional mobile, you could hang one of these above your baby's crib. Let the good dreams through, filter out the bad. This is a steal, for only $20.00 at Children Salon.

Swarovski Crystals on Everything at Baby Bling Things Boutique

No baby item is safe from being blinged out! Seeing these things all on the same page at Baby Bling Things Boutique may be a bit overwhelming at first, but as individual items, I can see how they could be cute. Firstly, the strangely shaped thing in the first row on the far right is a set of nail clippers. Yes, bling nail clippers. They have thought of everything. Even the light switch cover is pretty out there. The little round buttons are drawer knobs, which I am actually a very big fan of. This stuff is not cheap though; the nail clippers are $29.99! But I mean how many people can say they have rhinestone-studded nail clippers? I'd hate to be the person whose job it is to glue all those little guys on.

Sarah Storybook Pillow from Posh Tots

Posh Tots does not mess around when it comes to expensive decor, furniture, bedding, etc. So when I ran across a pillow that had a $170.00 price tag, I had to know more. I have never seen anything like this before: it is a pillow that is actually a soft story book. Each one is custom made order by order, hand-painted and embellished with soft flowers and ruffles. This may be one of the most unique gift ideas I have seen in a while; I am always on the lookout for the new and unusual. Also in this collection, you will find matching bedding, linens, and another unique envelope pillow. The entire thing would cost more than your mortgage, but your daughter's room would be the cutest in the house. Unless you couldn't pay your mortgage after purchasing this collection and it got repossessed.

Hot Air Balloon Chandelier

How fantastic is this? I am loving the idea of a hot air balloon chandelier because it's like it is really floating away, up into the ceiling. The base that the arms of each light come out of is even a basket. Embellished with hanging crystals and soft pompoms, each chandelier is hand-crafted by artist Teresa Thompson. No two pieces are exactly alike, which makes this eccentric accent even more special. The cost? A lot. Like $1360.00 a lot. More of this collection is also available at The Frog and the Princess.

Cupcake Christmas Stocking!!

So I may mention every two minutes or so that I love cupcakes. Like actual edible cupcakes and any item depicting pictures of cupcakes. Now a cupcake Christmas stocking? I am bowled over. Cupcakes, bows, pearls, lace, and glitter... I am adding this to my Christmas list. See this fabulous stocking for $40.00 at childrensalon.com.

PoshTots' Wild Things Chandelier

This is definitely an interesting spin on the traditional. I like it, but the only thing I'm not sure about are the leopard print shades. They look rather... cheap. They are optional, so I would opt for something else. Maybe black. See this $580.00 fixture and more unique lighting ideas at poshtots.com.

An Homage to Mother Goose

Mother Goose nursery rhymes will always be a viable option for a baby's room. Perfect for parents who want to be surprised by their baby's gender, cows and moons and dishes and spoons are pretty unisex. While to this day I still do not understand what in the world some of these rhymes mean (hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon...?) I love any and all imagery associated with them, maybe because they are some of the first stories I remember listening to. This chandelier and table lamp featuring that famous cow that jumped over the moon would be a good jumping off point for a Mother Goose nursery, or a fun accent for one that's not. For $599.00 and $278.00, these and more ideas are available at poshtots.com.

Clown Boot Christmas Stocking

This may be one of the most fabulous things I have ever seen. I am one of those disgusting Christmas people. I put up my decorations in November. I take a day off of work for it, and drink a bottle of champagne and listen to Christmas music on my stereo. I have three trees. Last year I melted an extension cord due to plugging too many doodads into a power strip. So while this stocking isn't exactly Christmas-y, I don't care. I love it; it has velvet, sequins, ribbons, bells, someone please buy this. Now. For $120.00, available at childrensalon.com.

Andromeda 15 Light Pendant

Okay... while this hanging light may not scream "Baby room!"..... it creates a dazzling effect that would most likely mesmerize any adult and baby. The hundreds of crystals (the light comes in either purple or clear) attached to thin wires create a "galaxy of stars" on the walls when illuminated by the light bulbs on the arms. Sounds pretty fabulous to me. Available for a fabulous $1799.00 at ababy.com.

Froggy Flower Parade Rug

I like the idea of frogs for girls. It is different; most people associate frog or bug themes with boys so I like the idea of making feminine little girl frogs. This circular rug could work anywhere... a bathroom because frogs like water, a sunroom because they are outdoorsy, a bedroom just because... for $180.00 this rug can be purchased at www.poshtots.com.

Victorian Tea Chandelier

Stunning. Gorgeous. Absolute masterpiece. One of the most unique light fixtures I have ever seen. This could work in a cottage-themed room, a fancy Victorian-themed room, a tea party theme (obviously)... I'd be tempted to go a little Alice in Wonderland with it and create a scene in the woods with a mad tea party, wall murals, the whole nine yards. This chandelier can be purchased for $674.00 at www.poshtots.com.

XOXOXO

Images found here

Simple. Adorable. Mix and match. These "Lotsa  Blue X" and "Lotsa Yellow O" wall hangings create endless possibilities and combinations. Each color comes with an X version and an O version. I have always wanted boy-girl twins, as twins run strongly in my family. A cluster of blue and pink X's and O's would be perfect. Create a tic tac toe board, so string them in a line. However you decide to do it, they can be found for $72.00 apiece at www.bellydancematernity.com
