New Baby Dior Sunhats

Oh lord... it's a bit hard to imagine a day where you will need these right now, isn't it? This is the part of winter that I dread. One of my affirmations for 2012 (I'm not doing resolutions, because those tend to fail) is to not let the winter blues get me this year. I can still enjoy things and live and laugh and be happy. Never mind that January, February, and March are miserable. I will make my own bliss! So anyway, here we have two of Baby Dior's amazing sunhats, new for Spring/Summer 2012. If you can't pick a favorite, why not get both? They are even machine-washable, so they are safe for a day of outdoor play and dirt. Find both for $89.00 each at Children Salon.

Burberry Quilted Hat

I just realized that I did not check my lottery numbers last night. Perhaps it was because I spent some time with a friend who I call "my talking friend." Because... she talks. Everyone has a girlfriend like that right? They tell you everything and anything. Last night I was trying to wedge my way out of her front door so I could get to my car and she was going on and on about the dreams she had had that week. Maybe I'm a millionaire and don't even know it. If I am, I will be buying this pricey Burberry quilted hat for a pregnant cousin. It's simple, tasteful, and functional, yet special because it has the Burberry logo on the band for everyone to see. All cotton, machine-washable, and this hat even comes in a cute little gift box. If you've got the big bucks, start your Christmas shopping early and find this $37.00 hat at Children Salon.

Gucci Embossed Fedora

It's 6:45am. You ever have those mornings where you just instantly wake up, pop out of bed, and are just ready to tackle the day? Yeah... I don't have those mornings. It takes hitting the snooze button an average of three times, then after actually getting out of bed, and average of three cups of coffee and a shower before I start to feel like a functioning human being. Hopefully in my next life I will be a morning person, because I have always been insanely jealous of them. It just seems like life would be so much easier. Perhaps in my next life I will also be stick-thin, mega rich, and timelessly beautiful... Anyway, here we have an expensive Gucci fedora for your little fashionista. I think the only time I have ever seen a small child in a fedora would be in celebrity baby pictures. They are one of life's little luxuries that not everyone can be a part of. Covered with the Gucci logo, any child to have this as part of their autumn wardrobe was certainly born very lucky... because it costs a whopping $135.00. Find it at Neiman Marcus.

Catimini Urban Striped Hat with Crochet Flower

I'd wear this hat, not gonna lie. Although a coworker of mine shared an interesting theory of his recently: he said he does not date girls that are "Hat Girls," i.e. girls that wear hats all the time because they usually end up being crazy. I am wondering if this is just his personal experience or if it could harbor some potential truth? Who knows. I wear hats when it's cold, pretty simple. Catimini is genius, we all know that. Pretty much every piece of fabric that they touch turns into gold, yet in a crazy, colorful, multi-pattern sense. Their fall and winter 2011 collection is no exception. You can pre order this har for $42.00, as well as their other things, from Forest and Zoe.

A Very Expensive Dior Hat.

No really, this hat is retailing for $209.00. Sometimes I think about people with excessive amounts of money, particularly celebrities. I think about what they spend their money on: $500,000.00 shopping trips, multiple cars, personal trainers and chefs and drivers... it's almost disgusting. I'm not saying they don't work hard and don't deserve the money, but it's just funny to me that what they can spend in a day is significantly more than what I make in a year. Oh well... maybe someday I will strike it rich! So yes, back to this insanely expensive hat. It is lined with fleece and trimmed with real rabbit fur. Don't how how I feel about that, as I have a particular affection for bunnies, but it is a cute hate nonetheless. If you have $209.00 just laying around, this can be yours, found at Lavish Kids.

Junior Gaultier Sailor Stripe Hat

When I was in art school, "juxtaposition" was the buzz word. Two things unalike, acting as one. A drawing of beautiful daffodils with discarded cigarette butts in the soil they grow from. Art students try so hard to be different that they pretty much form one boring type within themselves. Sidenote: I have strong feelings about what I learned (and did not learn) in art school. Juxtaposition is what leads me to this hat. A winter beanie with a summery sailor theme. It's pretty odd, but it works. This is 2011 people, the nautical theme is not just for summer anymore! Feed your need to stand out and buy this for $60.00 at Mon Petit Child.

A Fun 4th of July Hat by Monnalisa: On Sale!

I mean come on, what's not to love about this hat? Granted the "blue" flowers are actually black, I still think this could pass as a very cute hat for the 4th of July. Which, by the way, who can believe is coming up in the next week? Where has time gone. In any case, I stumbled across this hat while browsing around Lavish Kids and I honestly do not know if it is on sale because it is from last year or for some other unknown reason. Point being: it's on sale. Originally $95.00, this sweet little hat is now a whopping 50% off, taking it down to $47.50. Come on, who cares if it's last year's. It's adorable. Don't be one of those people. Just buy the hat.

More Designer Baby Sunhats!

Dolce & Gabbana... you keep making me swoon with your cheerful spring patterns this year. I am head over heels for the cherry print that I keep seeing. Both of these sun hats are D&G Junior, and both are embellished by delicate white eyelet underneath the brim. These both were found at Lavish Kids, which at first seemed to be slow to add new items for spring and summer (maybe I think that because my go-to is Children Salon, which brings in new items pretty much daily), but now their seasonal things are out in full-swing. The price you must pay to own these pieces of cuteness? $95.00 each.

More French Findings: Les Grenouilles Collection by Lucie Vall

My French obsession continues. Newest find: Les Grenouilles. Meaning "frogs" in French, this collection is designed by Lucie Vall, whose daughters are nicknamed "the frogs." Hence the name. I love little factoids like that. Anyway, Lucie has roots in BonPoint and Agnes B., and her classic forms and use of patterns are reflective of this. Again, I am a huge fan of the trend of classic yet modern that seems to flow throughout French children's clothing.  Also a great part of this collection: bonnets.

Call me old school, but I have always had an affinity for baby bonnets. They seem to have been replaced by fedoras and beanies and paperboy hats, but as Mrs. Doubtfire once said, "A classic never dies, dear." There is just something precious about a baby out on a walk in the park wearing a little bonnet. In any case, if you are a lover of unique boutiques (say that ten times fast) as I am, this one is definitely worth checking out.

Fancy Birthday Hats from Teacups and Mudpies

How great are these? Teacups and Mudpies is one of my favorite online stores to poke around in because they just have such a huge variety of things to drool over. I have been on a birthday kick, maybe because mine is quickly approaching, but I am really into all of these unique little things that you can find for a special birthday. And hats like this would be a great item to keep throughout the years. Selling for between $30.00 and $33.00, be sure to check out the other designs not pictured here!

Summer Hats from BbK

I was first turned on to the Bbk Collection from Catherine Seixo here, and have been a huge fan ever since. One of my absolute favorite things about this collection is the incorporation of hats. There are different styles, different patterns, and they match not only one dress or shirt, but many. The spring and summer collection has made its debut on bbkcreations.com and once again, the hats are at the top of my list. What can I say; I am a sucker for French couture.

Baby Dior Coral Stripe Sun Hat

It will not stop raining in the midwest. Waking up to the sound of rain is such a conundrum. It is soothing and makes you want to keep on sleeping. It also makes you wake up and think, "Damn it, it is raining." And, "It is so gloomy outside; all I want to do is sleep." Point being: it needs to stop raining. I get the whole spring showers thing, but come on. So thinking positive thoughts, let's look at this sun hat by Baby Dior. It is bright and cheery, with contrasting stripes forming stars within. The thing that cracks me up about it: its price tag reads $109.00. There is a matching poplin dress, sold separately, and both can be found at Lavish Kids.

Fendi Baby Zucca Cap

Soooo Fendi Baby's spring items are selling out like crazy at Children Salon. A bunch of their new sandals and loafers are already gone in every single size. Obviously there are a lot of people out there with money to spend. I am not one of them. This little cap is one of the cuter hats I have seen if you are going for a classic "designer look." With the all-over famous Zucca print, this hat will be easily recognized by the fashion-conscious folks who can afford to shell out $115.00 on a hat. Or, it could be recognized by people like me: folks who fantasize about affording $155.00 hats. Oh to be rich!

Catimini Keeps Bringing On the Cuteness

I am just waiting for it. We have had maybe a week of sunshine and while it's still freezing in the mornings, the afternoons have been nice. Spring is so close I can feel it. So I am just waiting for that last surprise snowstorm that just really makes people go crazy with frustration. Ahh... life in the midwest. It has gone without saying (although I have said it multiple times) that Catimini's spring and summer collection is where they really shine: the bright colors and bold patterns fit perfectly with summer dresses, skirts, accessories, you name it. Best part about this sun hat: it's reversible, so you are pretty much getting two hats in one. I almost like the all-red side better, with the little blue flower at the edge. For $36.00, buy yours at Children Salon.

Dolce & Gabbana Baby Denim Sun Hat

This is one of those things that is just perfectly classic: a denim sun hat with eyelet lace trim. Denim is great for accessorizing because it will match both brown and black, it goes with both warm and cold weather items, and, well, the fabric itself will probably never go out of style. If it ever did, many people would be in a bind in the pants department. This denim though is special, because it is Dolce & Gabbana demin, and for that, you must pay the large sum of $78.00, at childrensalon.com.

Designer Sun Hats from Alex and Alexa

What designer baby wardrobe would be complete without plenty of designer accessories? Sometimes it boggles my mind to think of how quickly these things must add up... the hat on the left is by Baby Dior and retails for $91.00. The hat on the right is of course by Burberry, retailing for $48.00. Pair these items with swim suits, sandals, cover ups, and maybe even some Dolce & Gabbana floaties, and you will easily be close to the $1000.00 range. Find more pricey accessories for your little one at Alex and Alexa.

Armani Wool Baby Hat

Holy expensiveness. This little hat sure packs one heck of a price tag: $125.00. FOR JUST THE HAT. Sure it is cute and all: soft lavender, soft wool, cute little pom pom, and of course the words "Armani Baby" scripted across the forhead. But $125.00 for a miniature hat? If you can swing it, feel free to visit Lavish Kids, and know that you are probably one of few who can.

Dolce & Gabbana Paperboy Hat

This is one of the most expensive baby hats I have run across to date. It is made in Italy, and simple enough... it's a newsboy hat or paperboy hat or whatever it is called in your neck of the woods. It has some stripes, not Swarovski crystal or angora or cashmere. Yet somehow, this is a $95.00 hat. Wonders never cease. If you want to pay for this hat bearing the infamous Dolce & Gabbana name, feel free to visit lavishkids.com

Kensington Baby Hats

Apparently I have flowers on the brain lately. Another one of those wonderfully quirky items founds at Teacups and Mudpies, these sweet little hats by Kensington Baby are made of soft 100% cotton, come in a variety of color combinations, and can be folded down as your baby grows so it's not one of those "It fits for two months" kind of deals. I am slightly worried about how the topknot will look when it is actually on a baby's head, but babies can pull anything off. Cute and reasonably priced, at $20.00 apiece.

BonPoint Embellished Hat

I never grew out of sequins. Sometimes I even get tempted to wear glitter around my eyes. That being said, I enjoy these things in tasteful doses (ie: I do not like bedazzled sweats or bags that shed glitter like some kind of magical fairy). Something about anything BonPoint touches turns to glitter and gold for me. This soft grey hat has just enough sparkle to catch your eye, nothing over the top. I adore it. One would think that there are small diamonds sewn in there somewhere as well, because this hat costs $110.00.
